LOVELAND, CO. – Eagles forwards Jake Wise, Matthew Phillips, Jason Polin, and Jayson Megna were able to find the back of the net alongside their defenseman Jacob MacDonald.
The Eagles would start the first period strong with defenseman Jacob MacDonald shooting a goal from the top of the left-wing circle just 4:01 into play. Just before the end of the interval the Stars capitalized on a powerplay where defenseman Christian Kyrou sent one to the back of the net from the left-wing circle with 1:05 left ending the period 1-1.
Texas would keep the momentum from the end of the first period going into the second when forward Justin Hryckowian shot one into the net from the blue line 5:20 into play. Colorado responded with 3:59 left on the clock with a goal from the slot shot by forward Jake Wise to end the second tied up 2-2.
The Eagles came out ready with a goal by right-winger Matthew Phillips from the top of the crease just 35 seconds into the final stanza. Colorado was looking to gain an advantage over the Stars and succeeded when forward Jason Polin notched the puck into the net from the right crease with 15:53 left in the game.
Looking to gain an extra man on the ice, Texas pulled their goalie in hopes of making a goal, but that decision backfired when Eagles center Jayson Megna sent the puck flying down the rink for an open net goal with 2:15 left. The Stars still looking for a goal found the back of the net with 22 seconds on the clock to end the game 5-3.
